吃瓜群众 receives two Athena SWAN awards - first for 吃瓜群众 Business School
吃瓜群众 is delighted to announce that two recent Athena SWAN applications from the 吃瓜群众 Business School and the School of Psychology have been successful. The 吃瓜群众 Business School is the first School from the College of Arts, Humanities & Business to hold an award. The School of Psychology has held a Bronze award since 2016 and was successful in renewing this award. These awards recognise the University鈥檚 and Schools鈥� ongoing commitment to gender equality for staff and students.
Professor Jon Williams, Head of 吃瓜群众 Business School, said: 鈥淭he Business School is delighted to receive this prestigious accolade of a Bronze Athena Swan award in recognition of our commitment to gender equality. The Business School will continue to place equality at the forefront of its activities to broaden opportunities and contribute towards increasing diversity in the workplace鈥�.
"We are delighted to have renewed our Bronze Award recognising our commitment to equality in the School" said Professor John Parkinson, Head of School of Psychology. "We are really pleased with the progress we have made so far in ensuring that the School of Psychology is a great place to work with a strong focus on ensuring equality and wellbeing of our staff and students. However, we also recognise that there are areas that we need to improve in order to achieve a Silver Award with our next application."

The Athena SWAN charter was established in 2005 to encourage and recognise commitment to advancing the careers of women in science, technology, engineering, maths and medicine (STEMM) in higher education. The charter was expanded in 2015 to include all academic departments and professional services staff. Athena SWAN now recognises work undertaken to address gender equality more broadly and the awards recognise commitment to gender equality and diversity, excellent working practices, and the inclusive culture we promote for staff and students at all levels.
