³Ô¹ÏȺÖÚ in top 10 most sustainable universities in the UK
The University has climbed nearly 20 places in the prestigious People and Planet University League Table, which ranks institutions on their sustainability actions.
This rise sees ³Ô¹ÏȺÖÚ at number 10 out of 153 universities in the UK, putting it firmly in the People and Planet’s category of ‘first class’ institutions.
Associate Pro-Vice Chancellor for Sustainability, Dr Christian Dunn, said, “We’re absolutely delighted with these results, it’s brilliant to see ³Ô¹ÏȺÖÚ being recognised as one of the top 10 most sustainable universities in the country.
“The People and Planet University League Table is a really important ranking because it considers all areas of sustainability, not just the obvious environmental issues.
“This result is down to the tremendous work all of our staff and students are doing every day to make a real difference in all areas of sustainability.
“With the launch of our #³Ô¹ÏȺÖÚ25by25 campaign, to reduce our carbon dioxide- equivalent emissions by 25% by 2025, we’re hoping we can keep in the top 10 next year
– maybe even go up a place or two!â€
According to the People and Planet’s scoring, this year ³Ô¹ÏȺÖÚ scored 70.3% and was ranked 10th out of 153 UK universities and 2nd in Wales. Last year the University scored 61.8% and ranked equal 28th.
